EIR Försäkring and Onuava launch Fertility+ – Europe’s first corporate health insurance solution for fertility and family building

Onuava, a leading HealthTech company specialising in reproductive health benefits, and EIR Försäkring, an innovative Swedish insurance provider, have jointly launched Fertility+, Europe’s first corporate health insurance solution dedicated to fertility and family building.
With this launch, EIR underlines its role as a forward-thinking insurer, taking the next step in developing modern, needs-based insurance solutions. In close collaboration with Onuava, the company is helping to bring a new generation of employee benefits to market, addressing areas that have long been underserved.
The product is initially available for the German market, where corporate health insurance is already widely established. At the same time, both partners see strong potential to expand the solution to additional European markets in the future.
Addressing a critical gap in employee benefits
In Germany, fertility treatment is only partially covered by public or private health insurance, leaving many couples with out-of-pocket costs of several thousand Euros. While more than 50,000 companies in Germany offer supplementary corporate health insurance, coverage for fertility treatments or egg freezing has so far been absent from these offerings. At the same time, one in six people is affected by infertility during their lifetime.
Fertility+ enables employers to provide financial support for fertility treatments such as IVF, ICSI and insemination, as well as social egg freezing. Depending on the selected plan, employees receive subsidies of €3,000, €5,000 or up to €10,000 to cover out-of-pocket costs.
A joint solution combining insurance and care
Developed in close collaboration between Onuava and EIR Försäkring, Fertility+ combines insurance coverage with a comprehensive digital support offering. EIR Försäkring provides the insurance framework, Onuava acts as managing general agent and delivers access to its platform.
In addition to financial coverage, employees benefit from medically validated information, webinars, psychological support and direct access to specialist medical 1:1 consultations across all areas of reproductive health, including all aspects of women’s and men’s health.

Inclusive, simple and employer-funded
Fertility+ is fully employer-funded and designed to be accessible to all employees. There are no waiting periods, no medical underwriting and no exclusions. Coverage starts from day one and includes ongoing treatments. Importantly, the solution is inclusive of all family models, regardless of marital status, gender or sexual orientation. Partners can also be covered.
The insurance structure allows employers to support their workforce anonymously while benefiting from a tax-efficient setup. Monthly premiums are predictable and typically start from around €3 per employee.
